Drain Cleaning with Four Star Plumbing

Are you aware that your home has drains at every fixture that connect to a mainline drain in your yard? These drains are called the main line. The mainline drain are the main route your waste water takes to the city’s sewers. They are an important part of your home’s health as well! These drains take drainage from all your fixtures and your yard, depositing it to the city sewer. Most importantly is that they connect to all of your home’s drains, if the mainline clogs you can see it manifest in stoppages throughout your entire home!

Many times these drains can get clogged up with mud, waste, plant matter, and roots. In extreme cases they can become damaged, which can cause breaks to occur inside them. As a homeowner it is important that you make sure these drains stay clean and working properly. Otherwise, they may become backed up and dump large amounts of waste water into your yards and homes. When this happens it can cause serious structural damage if left unchecked.

One of the most common issues found in drains is called root intrusion, and it can effect any drain.

What exactly is considered a Root Intrusion?

Most commonly drains are affected by what is commonly called Root intrusion. Root intrusion is exactly like it sounds and is just nearby roots from trees, bushes, grasses, and even long gone plants finding their way into your pipes. These roots work their way into very small cracks and breaks in your drains and become an almost impassable obstacle for water and debris to pass through. Roots can appear even if there is no obvious plants nearby, as roots travel very easily and far in dirt looking for nutrients.

We also offer an additional investment some people opt for when they find their pipes show signs of damage. This option is to have a pipe liner installed. Pipe liners are a type of coating that is run through the pipes after they have been hydro jetted clean. Liners can help seal up any cracks or trouble spots.
