We here at Four Star Plumbing absolutely love Halloween and the spooky season. For years now we have hosted a local haunted house for free for our local community, which if you are interested can check out on our facebook.
So it feels only right that we spread some of the ghoulish vibe to our blog and share some Plumbing Horror and tips to protect your holidays from the Plumbing monsters.
We have one story straight from our own technicians that involved a horrible stench and even more grotesque find. An elderly customer of ours called us one day with a strange problem, a smell has been permeating her home for months. Other plumbers had come and attempted to find the source to no avail. So, out went our tech to discover what was going on. He did the usual investigative techniques and could not find a source at first. On a hunch he decided to open up her wall in a nearby room and look around. What he ended up finding was horrifying to the poor homeowner, but just another routine find for our technician. It was a nest, of rats, that were no longer living. Luckily for our customer, our plumbers are not very squeamish. They removed the problem, cleaned the area, and within minutes everything was normal.
Creepy Crawlies and the Toilet
As crazy as it may seem, snakes coming up a toilet are not pure fantasy. It happens, rarely, but it happens. Snakes in a toilet might be more reasonable than a plane in our honest opinion.
If you are feeling brave a simple youtube search of snakes in toilets will show cobras in India, Boas in Australia, and in one more local case: A North Carolina man who has pulled six snakes out of his toilet.
Now as scary as that is there are some other important things to know about animals and how they can disrupt your home’s plumbing, check out our article here about it.
Have an animal bothering your plumbing? Call your local animal control, and then call us to see how they are getting in.
Rattling but not from a Poltergeist
We have all heard our homes rattle and creak, and with a good imagination might wonder if our home was haunted. The truth is much blander; it could just be high water pressure or poorly strapped pipes clanking in your walls.
Meaning you do not need to call a paranormal investigator, just one well trained Four Star Plumbing Technician. With some quick investigative tests, we can get you the solutions you need.
Don’t trade in your head for a Pumpkin
If Ichabod Crane lived today, do you think he would enjoy carving pumpkins professionally? We do not think so, but if he did we hope he wouldn’t throw the seeds down his disposal where they can clog and burn out the motor of the disposal. You can read about other things not to toss down that gaping maw in your sink over our blog here.
While pumpkins are great fun for everyone to carve up, they are not friendly to your garbage disposal. It is important to toss them in the trash or bake them into a delicious treat.
